WEIGHT LOSS
A low carbohydrate diet lowers insulin levels so the body burns its own
stored fat. To achieve lasting weight loss you must change your insulin
metabolism. Insulin is a hormone secreted by the pancreas gland behind the
stomach. It pours out of the pancreas when a person eats carbohydrates. Put
simply, insulin takes sugar out of the blood stream and deposits it in fat
cells, so the more efficiently insulin is released and the higher the insulin
level, the more weight a person gains. Particularly in the abdominal area.
Insulin levels go up with age, just at a time when activity and exercise tend to
slow down, resulting in a majority of people who are overweight by midlife.
Insulin allows the body to store fat that can be used for energy in the days
between substantial meals. In the modern world these days are few and far
between. Genetically however we're the same as we were thousands of years ago
when our ancestors had to exert a lot of energy to eat (by hunting, collecting
berries etc), and insulin stores fat as readily now as it did then. But human
evolution has yet to factor in fast food, or snacking on lollies and biscuits
for two months during the holidays. Now instead of keeping us alive, it is having the opposite effect: making us
overweight and prone to diabetes, heart attacks, and strokes. If you are able to
stick to a low carbohydrate diet without cheating by eating sweets or bread,
this metabolic process, called hyperinsulinemia, does not have to overload you
with stored fat. Exercise is the other crucial way that humans lower their
insulin levels by burning energy instead of storing it. And the combination of a
low carbohydrate diet with daily aerobic exercise allows almost anyone to lose
weight, no matter what his or her body type. CLICK TO ORDER ECA STACK WEIGHT LOSS
